Ladybug Tattoos Are Very Popular

I do wonder why this is and I decided to do a little research on this for myself. For starters, let us examine the ladybug itself a little to get a better understanding of them to begin with.

* Some basic facts, not all just some.
* Average life span 2-3 years.
* There are 5,000 different kinds of ladybugs, 400 of which live in the U.S.
* The female lays 1,000+ eggs in her life time.
* They eat aphids.
* They protect themselves from predators much like a skunk.
* Ladybugs are also known as lady beetles and ladybird beetles.

They lay their eggs in the midst of aphid colonies and other plant eating pests. As the eggs hatch, the larvae begin to feed. By the end of it's 3-6 week life cycle, the larvae will have consumed 5,000 aphids or more!

The fascinating life cycle of ladybugs

A ladybug's life cycle is only four to eight weeks! Although their life cycle is not extensive, it certainly is amazing. It all begins with the eggs that the female ladybug lays. The eggs are usually laid in or near an aphid colony. When the time is right and the ideal conditions are present, the eggs will hatch as larvae, the first stage of the ladybug's life cycle. Immediately after it hatches, the larvae feasts on its damaged egg for its very first meal. After that, it may eat any aphids nearby. The larva has of four different growth stages, which together, last for about a month (20-30 days).

Now, with ladybug tattoo's, can't you see why ladybugs are somewhat popular?

I really think ladybugs are a fascinating little creature that have their own unique personality. They are a beautiful and strange kind of insect that comes in all colors imaginable.The funny thing is that a lot of women get ladybug tattoo's and ladybugs are not lady like in most ways.

Blood: when ladybugs are disturbed or angry, they release a nasty smelling yellow-orange fluid that can stain walls and carpeting. This is actually their blood. Crushing or stepping on ladybugs will also release this foul liquid, so don't try it if you're looking for a fast removal method.

Biting: ladybugs can and do bite. While it's not dangerous or particularly painful, it can be uncomfortable. Being bit by anything is no fun.

Allergies: you can actually be allergic to ladybugs! There have been a few cases of people actually being allergic to ladybugs themselves. People are also allergic to their expelled blood. Symptoms can result from eye irritation to asthma like symptoms.

Wine: Asian lady beetles are also a problem in the wine industry. Because of their stinky blood, ladybugs accidentally processed with wine can ruin it.

But in the women's eyes, ladybugs are cute and look beautiful as a tattoo on their skin. I tend to agree.
